Assignment 2

Artist Statement
My artwork title is Modern Generation. It means a lot of things to me. Nowadays, most people more believe in what they see and hear from Television and internet. Because of this we start to forget our mighty God. Some issues happen because of internet and television content. The more people use it, the more they can believe in the internet and television.
Artwork treatment
I made this artwork using adobe photoshop. First thing I do is put background and give some dirt effect. In my artwork I take a stock photo that I have. I choose the photo because it’s funny and looks stupid. And then I put a television photo, so it looks like the head. Then I make 2 more copy about it. Then I make the button and sub-menu. I make this artwork only using 2 photos, because Alan Ganev also do his work like this. And there is a repetition in his artwork.

Artist Statement
The title is Anything You Like. In this artwork I get the concept from Dev Harlan Artwork called Any Color You Like. Instead of make and artwork of many color that people like. I make my artwork from three colors that I like, these three colors represent my happy emotion. The title Anything You Like means that audience can say or judge anything they like from my artwork. But for me, this is representing my happy emotion.
Artwork Treatment
In this artwork I am using adobe illustrator. I am doing my artwork like Dev Harlan. Most of his artwork has tetrahedron shape which this shape based on four triangles. So I make triangle and tetrahedron in my artwork and giving it color that represent my happiness. Then I make more copies for triangles with color, and copies for grey triangles. So it’s like triangle with colors wipe the triangles with grey color. Then I make the button and sub-menu button. I do this repetition because Dev Harlan also does repetition in his work.

Digital art is a general term for a range of artistic works and practices that use digital technology as an essential part of the creative and/or presentation process. Since the 1970s, various names have been used to describe the process including computer art and multimedia art, and digital art is itself placed under the larger umbrella term new media art. The impact of digital technology has transformed activities such as painting, drawing and sculpture, while new forms, such as net art, digital installation art, and virtual reality, have become recognized artistic practices. More generally the term digital artist is used to describe an artist who makes use of digital technologies in the production of art. In an expanded sense, "digital art" is a term applied to contemporary art that uses the methods of mass production or digital media.
After searching and looking at many digital media artists. I decide that in this Project I choose two Digital Multimedia Artists that I am interesting at. Artists that I choose are Dev Harlan and Alan Ganev. These two artists have an amazing artwork. Dev Harlan artwork is brilliantly amazing and mind blowing. I love his Pyramid series projection mapping artwork. It’s beautiful and calm, yet it’s simple and colorful. Projection Mapping is A new form of urban art is popping up in cities throughout the world. Urban Projection Mapping, as it is loosely known, is the art of creating video displays that make buildings come alive in light, color and motion. Armed with powerful technology, a handful of enterprising video artists create vivid, visually arresting video displays that are projected on urban architecture.
Installation art is describes an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that are often site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. Generally, the term is applied to interior spaces, whereas exterior interventions are often called Land art; however, the boundaries between these terms overlap. Installation art can be either temporary or permanent. Installation artworks have been constructed in exhibition spaces such as museums and galleries, as well as public and private spaces. The genre incorporates a broad range of everyday and natural materials, which are often chosen for their "evocative" qualities, as well asnew media such as video, sound, performance, immersive virtual reality and the internet.
Alan Ganev also a great artist. His artworks are beautiful and meaningful. He mostly works in collage, installations and silk screen art. His artworks that I am interested in are silk screen and collage. Silk screen art also known as screen printing. Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink or other printable materials which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas.
Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. A collage (From the French: coller, to glue, French pronunciation: [kɔ.laːʒ]) is a work of formal art, primarily in the visual arts, made from anassemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.
A collage may include newspaper clippings, ribbons, bits of colored or hand-made papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas. The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century as an art form of novelty.
The term collage derives from the French "colle" meaning "glue". This term was coined by both Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso in the beginning of the 20th century when collage became a distinctive part of modern art. Alan doing his collage art using computer application.

Dev Harlan
Dev Harlan is a multidisciplinary artist whose hybrid practice combines the physical and the virtual with the use of sculpture, light and projection. As a self educated Artist, Designer and CG Director, Dev's uniquely identifiable aesthetic language and reductionist approach place his work at the forefront of a new mode of media arts practice.
Works have recently been shown at Scope NY Cinema Series, Optronica Festival, One Dot Zero Festival, Whitebox Gallery, Christopher Henry Gallery, Scope Miami Art Fair, and the Vimeo Festival's “VimeoWorld.”
Dev is a native Californian and currently lives and works in New York and has been featured at a number of galleries there and in Miami. One of his latest works is the Parmenides I, that showed at the Christopher Henry Gallery in NY as a part of a solo exhibition entitled “The Astral Flight Hangar.” The Parmenides I is a large geometric sculpture that is brought to life by light.

Most of Dev’s work are colorful and has a shape of triangle and tetrahedron sculpture. Mind blowing artwork of Dev is because of the projection mapping that so beautiful and calm. Dev also make collabs with other artist. One of my favorites is the collaboration with Olek the installation artist. Olek and Dev made an awesome artwork. Here are some pictures of their collaboration artwork.

Alan Ganev
Born in 1986 in San Jose, Costa Rica, collage artist Alan Ganev has been calling Montreal home for several years. Alan Ganev is a graphic designer, musician, artist, street artist and event organizer. His various collaborations take him from gallery to museum, and he is the co-founder of CEASE, a non-profit organization in Montreal that diffuses art through events & initiatives. Alan starting making artwork since 18, he’s working on collage at that time, making an artwork from source that he get at deviantart website at that time. His approach to collage is quite exact and meticulous. The images are cut very delicately and the position and alignment of the elements in the composition is of great importance to him.
He usually intends to create rich compositions with no more than three images and a couple geometrical shapes. When asked about his inspiration, Alan inspiration is people around him.

He tries to surround himself with passionate and driven individuals that want to do something great for themselves. They motivate him with their achievements. Most of Alan work not just collage. He also loves installation art.

Artist Statement
This artwork is about love. Love can be complicated. Padlock here shows how complicated that love can be. I made the padlock shape like a heart shape to make it easier to get the mean of my artwork. Three heart shaped padlock, locking each other. It is so complicated. Just like love. Love can be complicated and confusing.

Artwork treatment
In this artwork, I’m using Illustrator and Photoshop to get my artwork done. I use illustrator to make the vector of the heart shaped padlock. Once I’ve done making one heart shaped padlock, I copy it to make two more padlock. After that I arrange ever padlock to a complicated position. Then I put screen button. After that I import the image to Photoshop to masking and make shadow of the padlock. Most tool that I use in illustrator is pen tool.

Artist Statement
This artwork is about freedom. This artwork looks simple. Four Balloons and an anvil without any color, but black and white. Balloons carry the heavy anvil. The anvil fly free like it has no weight at all that makes four balloons can lift the anvil easily. The reason that this artwork has no color is because people can also be free and give different or same color to each balloon or whatever they want to do with the balloons and anvil. They also can add whatever they want. This is made them feel the freedom themselves. Lines to the words are the navigation to screen button.

Artwork treatment
In tis artwork, I’m using illustrator to make the vector of each balloon and the anvil. I made the balloon and anvil using pen tool. Then I add some lines to make the rope of the balloons. I also make some lines that go to the words at the left. The lines make the words be a navigator button. The words are the screen button in this artwork.

In my Video I try to show my emotion about fixed gear bike that been a new trend and hobby these days. In my work, I took clips using Dslr camera. In editing I use Adobe premiere pro. In editing the video I have some difficulties in making transition, because there is no tutorial to make this kind of transition in premiere. I use premiere because of my after effect crash for some reason that I didn’t know. I choose to make a light leaks transition because this kind of transition rarely used by editor, and also because I like the effect of the light leaks. The transition made my video looks warm and calm. So to match the transition with the scene, I edit my scene with warm tone. For the concept board, I also put light leaks effect to get a warm and vintage feel. Some brown color to make it looks more vintage. And I made my own words in one of concept board using pen tool instead of text tool to make it fit with the space that available to write on.

Fixed gear bicycles have become the ultimate item in urban chique. Messengers glide effortlessly in and out of traffic in a show of defiance and freedom among lines of cars chained to the grind of the daily commute. Fixie bikes are simple and elegant, with clean lines and a genuine beauty which springs from their lack of complexity, stripped to the bare requirements of pedaling, steering and rolling. And they are becoming more popular as more people discover the joy of riding single speed and fixed gear.

Single speed riding requires a different kind of approach. The fixed gear does not allow you to coast. In fact, going downhill can be hard work. The cog on the rear wheel is bolted directly the hub so that your pedals must go at the same speed as your rear wheel. This also means your pedals can be used to slow down the bike, and the ability to pedal backwards make the impressive track stand you sometimes see messengers doing when the traffic lights are red.

But where did the fixie come from? Some of the first bikes ever were fixed gears – look at the Penny Farthing, and you will see that the pedal cranks are connected directly to the hub of the front wheel. Before the advent of the derailleur, which allowed bicycles to have gears, single speed bikes were the only race bike available. And they were big news in the sporting world. In 1876, Madison Square Garden was built to accommodate a velodrome racing track. Bike racing on the original fixed gear track bikes attracted huge crowds and turned bike racers in to stars. In fact, bike racers back in those days could earn almost $150,000 per year compared with a tradesman’s salary of around $5,000. One of the best known events in the sport of track racing was the hour record where world riders would pit themselves against the clock in an attempt to ride as far as they possibly could in an hour. Some of the greats of the sport have held the hour record, including Francesco Moser, Eddy Merckx and Miguel Indurain. Graeme Obree successful record attempt on a homemade fixie, partly made from old washing machine parts, was made the subject of the movie “The Flying Scotsman”.

The halcyon days of track racing in the U.S. are perhaps behind us, although the sport has enjoyed a resurgence of interest as an Olympic sport, and more nations are putting resources into track racing. But the legacy of the fixed gear bike is alive and well.

Some of the features of those old track bikes, you might think, make the fixie less than ideal for riding in an urban setting, as opposed to riding indoors on a banked track, with no traffic or pedestrians to contend with. Others disagree. Fixie riders who ride without brakes have to anticipate their next move much further in advance than their free-wheeling colleagues. Fixie riders talk of the feeling of Zen-like peace and flow as they become as one with their bike, flowing through the streets and cars of downtown. Others compare riding their fixie to a game of chess, anticipating the movement of the traffic as a chess player would anticipate the moves of his opponent, and reacting accordingly. In any event, the history and the evolution of the fixie has moved on to accommodate the needs of every rider, and in particular the urban rider.

Fixie bikes are probably best known for their uniqueness and variety. You will see track bicycles in the city with their dropped handlebars, but you will also see machines with flat handlebars, bikes with brakes and bikes without brakes. Experience fixed gear riding for yourself – it really is an entirely different style of riding and transport that allows you to feel very connected to your bike. Whether you choose a track bike or an urban machine, you too can get the feel of cycling on one of the oldest and best established types of bicycle – a form of cycling that is as enjoyable today as it ever was.

A fixed-gear bicycle (or fixed-wheel bicycle, sometimes known as a fixie) is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast, as the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving.
The sprocket, or cog, is threaded or bolted directly to a fixed rear hub. When the rear wheel turns, the pedals turn in the same direction. This allows a cyclist to stop without using a brake, by resisting the rotation of the cranks, and also to ride in reverse.

A fixed-gear bicycle

Uses

The track bicycle is a form of fixed-gear bicycle used for track cycling in a velodrome. But since a "fixed-gear bicycle" is just a bicycle without a freewheel, a fixed-gear bicycle can be almost any type of bicycle.
Traditionally, some road racing and club cyclists used a fixed-gear bicycle for training during the winter months, generally using a relatively low gear ratio, believed to help develop a good pedalling style. In the UK until the 1950s it was common for riders to use fixed-gear bicycles for time trials. The 1959 British 25 mile time trial championship was won by Alf Engers with a competition record of 55 minutes 11 seconds, riding an 84 inch fixed-gear bicycle. The fixed-gear was also commonly used, and continues to be used in the end of season hill climb races in the autumn. A typical club men's fixed-gear machine would have been a "road/path" or "road/track" cycle. In the era when most riders only had one cycle, the same bike when stripped down and fitted with racing wheels was used for road time trials and track racing, and when fitted with mudguards (fenders) and a bag, it was used for club runs, touring and winter training. By the 1960s, multi-gear derailleurs had become the norm and riding fixed-gear on the road declined over the next few decades. Recent years have seen renewed interest and increased popularity of fixed-gear cycling.
In urban North America fixed-gear bicycles have achieved tremendous popularity, with the rise of discernible regional aesthetic preferences for finish and design details.
Dedicated fixed-gear road bicycles are being produced in greater numbers by established bicycle manufacturers. They are generally low in price and characterized by relaxed road geometry, as opposed to the steep geometry of track bicycles.
Fixed-gear bicycles are also used in cycle ball, bike polo and artistic cycling.
A fixed-gear bicycle is particularly well suited for track stands, a manoeuvre in which the bicycle can be held stationary, balanced upright with the rider's feet on the pedals.

A fixed/freewheel rear hub (flip-flop)

Advantages and disadvantages
One of the perceived main attractions of a fixed gear bicycle is low weight. Without the added parts required for a fully geared drive train, a fixed gear bicycle will weigh significantly less than its geared equivalent. Also, a fixed gear drivetrain is more mechanically efficient than any other bicycle drivetrain, with the most direct power transfer from rider to the wheels. Thus, a fixed gear will require less energy in any given gear to move than a geared bike in the same gear.
In slippery conditions some riders prefer to ride fixed because they believe the transmission provides increased feedback on back tire grip.
Descending any significant gradient is more difficult as the rider must spin the cranks at high speed (sometimes at 170 rpm or more), or use the brakes to slow down. Some consider that the enforced fast spin when descending increases suppleness or flexibility, which is said to improve pedalling performance on any type of bicycle.
Riding fixed is considered by some to encourage a more effective pedaling style, which is claimed translates into greater efficiency and power when used on a bicycle fitted with a freewheel.
When first riding a fixed gear, a cyclist used to a freewheel may try to freewheel, or coast, particularly when approaching corners or obstacles. Since coasting is not possible this can lead to a 'kick' to the trailing leg, and even to loss of control of the bicycle.
Riding at high speed around corners can be difficult for the novice rider, as the pedals can strike the road, resulting in possible loss of control.

Brakeless
Some fixed-gear riders think brakes are not strictly necessary, and brakeless fixed riding has a cult status in some areas. Brakes and their cables are said to add extra bulk to the simple appearance of a fixed gear bicycle.
Other riders dismiss riding on roads without brakes as an affectation, based on image rather than practicality. Riding brakeless can be dangerous, is prohibited by law in many jurisdictions, and may jeopardize the chances of a successful claim in the event of an accident.

Cyclist riding a fixed gear bike without brakes

Technique
It is possible to slow down or stop a fixed-gear bike by resisting the turning cranks, and a rider can also lock the rear wheel and skid to slow down or stop on a fixed-gear bicycle. Such a move is initiated by unweighting the rear wheel while in motion by shifting the rider's weight slightly forward and pulling up on the pedals using clipless pedals or toe clips and straps. The rider then stops turning the cranks, thus stopping the drivetrain and rear wheel, while applying body weight in opposition to the rotation of the cranks. This causes the rear wheel to skid, and slow the bike. The skid can be held until the bicycle stops or until the rider desires to continue pedalling again at a slower speed. The technique requires a little practice and using it while cornering is generally considered dangerous. A wet surface further reduces the effectiveness of this method.
On any bike with only rear wheel braking, the maximum deceleration is significantly lower than on a bike equipped with a front brake. As a vehicle brakes, weight is transferred towards the front wheel and away from the rear wheel, decreasing the amount of grip the rear wheel has. Transferring the rider's weight back will increase rear wheel braking efficiency, but a front wheel fitted with an ordinary brake might provide 70% or more of the braking power when braking hard (see Weight transfer).

Conversion

Many companies sell bicycle frames designed specifically for use with fixed-gear hubs. A fixed-gear or track-bike hub includes special threads for a lockring that tightens in the opposite (counter-clockwise) direction compared with the cog. This ensures that the cog cannot unscrew when the rider "backpedals" while braking.

For a variety of reasons, many cyclists choose to convert freewheel bicycles to fixed gear. Frames with horizontal dropouts will be straightforward to convert, frames with vertical dropouts less so. One method is to simply replace the rear wheel with a wheel that has a track/fixed hub. Another is to use a hub designed to be used with a threaded multi-speed freewheel. Such a hub will only have the normal right-handed threads for the cog and not the reverse threads for the lockrings used on track/fixed hubs. There is the possibility that the sprocket on a hub without a lockring will unscrew while back pedalling. Even if a bottom bracket lockring is threaded onto the hub along with a track sprocket, because the bottom-bracket lockring is not reverse threaded, the possibility still exists that both the sprocket and locknut can unscrew. Therefore it is recommended to have both front and rear brakes on a fixed-gear bicycle using a converted freewheel hub in case the cog unscrews while back pedaling. It is also advisable to use a thread sealer for the cog and bottom bracket lockring. The rotafix (or "frame whipping") method may be helpful to securely install the sprocket.
Bicycles with vertical dropouts and no derailleur require some way to adjust chain tension. Most bicycles with horizontal dropouts can be tensioned by moving the wheel forward or backward in the dropouts. Bicycles with vertical dropouts can also be converted with some additional hardware. Possibilities include:
An eccentric hub or bottom bracket allows the off center axle or bottom bracket spindle to pivot and change the chain tension.
A "Ghost" or "floating" chainring. An additional chainring placed in the drive train between the driving chainring and sprocket. The top of the chain moves it forward at the same speed that the bottom of the chain moves it backwards, giving the appearance that it is floating in the chain.
A "Magic gear". With some math you can calculate a gearing ratio to fit a taut chain between the rear dropout and bottom bracket. Also, using a chain half link and slightly filing the dropouts to increase the width of the slot will increase the chances of finding a "magic gear." It is worth noting that the "magic gear" setup is controversial, due to inevitable chain stretch and subsequent slippage that can lead to serious injury.
Separate chain tensioning devices such as the type which are attached to the dropout gear hanger (commonly used on single speed mountain bikes) cannot be used because they will be damaged as soon as the lower part of the chain becomes tight.
Additional adjustments or modification may be needed to ensure a good chainline. The chain should run straight from the chainring to the sprocket, therefore both need to be the same distance away from the bicycle's centerline. Matched groupsets of track components are normally designed to give a chainline of 42 mm, but conversions using road or mountain bike cranksets often use more chainline. Some hubs, such as White Industries' ENO, or the British Goldtec track hub, are better suited to this task as they have a chainline greater than standard. Failure to achieve good chainline will at best lead to a noisy chain and increased wear, and at worst can throw the chain off the sprocket. This can result in rear wheel lockup and a wrecked frame if the chain falls between the rear sprocket and the spokes. Chainline can be adjusted in a number of ways, which may be used in combination with each other:
Obtaining a bottom bracket with a different spindle length, to move the chainring inboard or outboard
Choosing a bottom bracket with two lockrings, which gives fine adjustment of chainring position
Respacing and redishing the rear wheel, where permitted by the hub design
Placing thin spacers under the bottom bracket's right-hand cup (Sturmey-Archer make a suitable 1/16" spacer) to move the chainring outboard
Placing thin spacers between the chainring and its stack bolts to move it inboard (if the chainring is on the inside of the crank spider) or outboard (if the ring is on the outside of the spider)
Placing thin spacers between the hub shoulder and the cog- only recommended in the case of a freewheel-threaded hub, which has sufficiently deep threads for this

Competition
There are many forms of competition using a fixed gear bike, most of the competitions being track races. Bike messengers and other urban riders may ride fixed gear bicycles in alleycat races, including New York City's famous fixed-gear-only race Monstertrack alleycat.
There are also events based on messenger racing such as Mixpression which has been held 9 times in Tokyo. Trick demonstrations have been held since the late 1800s in the US and Europe; while they continued into a competitive form in Europe (Artistic Cycling), subsequent to the recent widespread popularity and advancement of fixed gear bikes, trick competitions have also now established themselves at venues in the US and Asia. European competitions include solo and team balletic movements on a controlled, flat surface; US and Asian competitions often include "park" and "flatland" styles and venues, a la BMX. Other competitions include games of "foot down" and bike polo.
In 2006, Adventures for the Cure made a documentary film on riding across the United States on fixed gears; they repeated this feat as a 4-man team at the 2008 Race Across America.
Fixed gear riders sharing the specific philosophy are also seen at the Single Speed World Championships.

Maintenance and upkeep

Maintaining a fixed gear is relatively easy because it has fewer parts than a geared bicycle. The sprocket should be checked regularly to make sure there is no damage to any teeth and that no object is grinding it as it turns with the rear wheel. The chainring should be checked similarly for any damage.
It is imperative (for road riding, at least) that the chain is sufficiently tight that it is impossible for it to derail from either the chainring or sprocket. This generally equates to "no visible slack". A derailed chain can cause a variety of undesirable consequences, such as a locked rear wheel or, worst of all, destruction of the frame if the chain becomes caught around the crank arm and pulls the rear triangle forwards. On a fixed-gear bicycle without hand brakes, even a relatively benign derailment means a total loss of braking ability. Tensioning aside, a chain is significantly less likely to derail if the chainline is accurate and the chain is a traditional "full bushing" type with limited lateral flexibility. Because the difference between a tight and a slack chain equates to only very minor elongation of the links, chain tension should be visually checked at least weekly, especially if the bicycle is ridden in wet or dirty conditions.
As with any other bicycle, the chain should be checked making sure the master link is securely latched. The chain can be lubricated monthly for smooth riding. Also, as needed, the brakes should be tightened as they wear and tire condition observed for possible puncture locations. Air pressure in the tires, tire alignment, brake handle placement, and rust should be monitored on a daily basis because they can change very easily during a jarring ride.

Subculture
Community
The fixed-gear movement is spreading over the globe, and is growing in Sweden. A cornerstone of the Swedish fixed-gear society is the Internet based forum Fixedgear.se, with over 2300 registered members. This makes up for the main meeting ground and discussion forum for Swedish fixed-gear riders and enthusiasts.
There are also several bicycle clubs throughout Sweden with a fixed-gear niche. Komet Club Rouler is a club based in Gothenburg, annually arranging Svart Katt and other fixed-gear oriented activities. Svart Katt has been internationally recognized and is considered Sweden’s largest alley cat by number of participators, according to Cog Magazine. KCR’s equivalent in Malmö is called Pista Malmø, arranging ”Thursday's rides” every Thursday, for all bikes and riders.

Popularity factors
Several factors contribute to the recent rise in popularity of fixed-gear bicycle. A rider from Stockholm interviewed for an article about the phenomenon notes that riding a bike imparts a feeling of freedom to the rider. You are free to go wherever you want, whenever you want. A sense of belonging is also important; as the rider says, “everybody that bikes are my friends”. Riders unknown to each other commonly greet each other when on bikes. As in many subcultures, this feeling of belonging is a key factor in recruiting and retaining participants.
The fact that many fixie riders ride brakeless in defiance of local law could also be viewed as a contributing factor to its popularity; it provides an outlet for minor rebellion.

Artist Statement

My artwork is about cleanliness. When I have trip to penang with my class. I took some photos that i think i can use for my artwork. In my opinion, penang so clean, that so few rubbish at the street and public place. I can say that there, in penang more clean than KL. in KL i still can see some rubbish at the sidewalk. but in penang its clean. and i find that one place that i see it is some awkward things. the place in little india, i dont really know the exact name of the street. in that place i find a sign with "fine for littering RM500".but right under the sign there are so many garbage.so i took a picture and make it as one of my artwork.another artwork is showing the clean street in little india. this one picture showing and representing how the environment there looks like.it is so clean.

Artwork Treatment

I do my artwork digitally,i use photoshop to get a nice color for my photograph. and i arrange some word for the typo. in photoshop i use curve, brightness control and high pass filter to get the color and looks that i want. i also use overlay for the second layer. i used a lot free transform and skew transform tool to arrange the typo. before using skew i merge all layer that contain word and letter, then i convert it to shapes so i can use skew them to get perspective i want.for one of my artwork im using blending option for the word to get burnt-in effect.in blending option i use inner shadow, outer glow and gradient overlay options to get the effects. for another artwork i used outer shadow to get some kind of floating effect.

Penang Cleanliness a Major Mar in Recent Berlin Tourism Fair
GEORGE TOWN: Penang’s level of cleanliness has earned the wrath of key tourism players from Germany.

The Berlin-based tourism players voiced their displeasure about the state’s filthiness, particularly along the famous Batu Ferringhi beachfront, during the recently completed 2007 edition of the International Tourism Bourse (ITB), the world’s largest travel fair, held from March 5 to 11.
This is not the first time Penang received such negative remarks and there is fear among the travel trade industry here that the state would risk losing visitors from Germany if authorities do not take the comments seriously.

During the 2006 edition of the ITB, the state’s level of cleanliness was also challenged by the same group.

"There should be a change of mindset among Penangites.

"If they think tourism is the second major revenue earner after manufacturing, they should seriously pull their act together to change the state’s image," state Tourism Development and Environment Committee chairman Teng Chang Yeow told the New Straits Times.

Teng said it was pointless for the state to continue to promote itself as a tourist destination when visitors have very negative perceptions about it.

"The onus is not only on the government to keep the state clean. Each and every citizen has an equally important role to play.

"It is sad that after all we have done, people still perceive us in such a negative manner," he added.

Teng also said that a project to ensure the attractiveness of Batu Ferringhi would be launched soon under the Ninth Malaysia Plan.

To ensure the success of its implementation, he said there should be no political interference.

"Otherwise, it is pointless for us to carry on with anything," he stressed.

Big cleanup of Penang’s beaches on April 18

THE public are invited to help clean up Penang’s beaches on April 18.

State Health, Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Com-mittee chairman Phee Boon Poh said the ‘Earth Day 2010 — Coastal Cleanup: Say Yes to Cleanliness’ campaign would be held from 6.30am to 11am.

The areas involved are Batu Ferringhi, Tanjung Bungah and Gurney Drive.

“The objective is not just to clean up the beaches but also to increase public awareness on caring for the environ- ment.

“We are targeting a total of 2,000 participants.

“We hope to turn the cleanup into an annual affair involving an even larger crowd in the future,” he told a press conference recently.

Among the participants of the state-organised programme are the Lions Club, JCI Bayan, va-rious ADUN service centres and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Hotels, learning institutions, associations and factories have also been invited to participate.

Participants are to gather at Paradise Sandy Beach Hotel (Tanjung Bungah), Restaurant Oriental (Gurney Drive) and Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa (Batu Ferringhi) for the clean- up.

Penang (Pulau Pinang) is an island off the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is also the name of the Malaysian state which is made up of Penang Island and the facing strip of territory on the mainland calledSeberang Perai (formerly Province Wellesley).

Penang's beaches are nice, though a little lackluster when compared to those in some other Malaysian states, but this is more than compensated for by the island's rich multicultural history which is full of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European influences. Penang is also well known for being the "food paradise" of Malaysia.

Cities

Penang Island

  • Georgetown — the capital of Penang; a favorite spot for tourists as it has many attractive pre-Second World War houses and shophouses, as well as 19th century churches, temples, mosques, and colonial buildings. George Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site (it was inscribed as one of the Historic Cities of the Straits of Malacca together with the city of Melaka).
  • Batu Ferringhi — on the north coast with white sandy beaches, luxurious hotels & restaurants, a favorite spot for both locals & tourists
  • Bayan Lepas — Penang's main electronic manufacturing area and location of its international airport. Georgetown's satellite town.
  • Balik Pulau — literally "Back of The Island" in Malay; a small town nestled among Malay villages, fruit orchards, and padi fields.
  • Teluk Bahang — a quiet little fishing village at the northwestern tip of the island
  • Tanjung Bungah — situated between Georgetown & Batu Feringhi, used to be a fishing village but now is a resort area with large hotels built along the beach. The world's largest Toy Museum is located in Tanjung Bungah next to Copthorne Orchid Hotel.

Type Expression

Typography is art of type design with arranging, modifying typeface or font.Typefaces are a family of fonts, such as Helvetica Regular, Helvetica Italic, Helvetica Black, and Helvetica Bold.Fonts are one weight or style within that family, such as Helvetica Bold.Typography usually perform by typesetters, compositors, typographers, graphic designer, graffiti artists, art director, comic artists, and anyone else who arrange type for design or product.

In this assignment im using bauhaus typeface. This bauhaus typeface was designed by Edward Benguiat and Victor Caruso based on the prototype created by Herbert Bayer of the Dessau Bauhaus in 1925. The simple geometric forms and even strokes give the font a clean and distinctive look. ITC Bauhaus is available in five weights, light, medium, demi, bold and heavy.Bauhaus Heavy was originally intended to be a display-only design and was accompanied by Bauhaus Outline. With the advent of digital technology, the Outline version was dropped from the family, while the Bauhaus Heavy was made part of the now text/display offering.

My topic for assignment to is about fixed gear bike that become a new kind of sport.A fixed-gear bicycle (or fixed-wheel bicycle, sometimes known as a fixie) is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast, as the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving.
The sprocket is screwed or bolted directly to a fixed rear hub. When the rear wheel turns, the pedals turn in the same direction. This allows a cyclist to stop without using a brake, by resisting the rotation of the cranks, and also to ride in reverse.

One of the main attractions of a fixed gear bicycle is low weight. Without the added parts required for a fully geared drivetrain, a fixed gear bicycle will weigh significantly less than its geared equivalent.

A fixed gear bicycle has fewer moving parts than a multi-gear bicycle and requires less maintenance.

Fixed gear usually colorful or have unique paint job. These are some picture of fixed gear bike :

What is piracy?
Piracy is the unauthorized reproduction or use of a copyrighted book, recording, television program, patented invention, trademarked product. Some people choose to use piracy because its giving them more advantage, such as easy to get, just download and didnt need to pay or using credit card, and didnt need to worry about hacker that can view username and password for your online bank transaction.most user that use pirate product because they cant get the product, usually it is because the product doesnt arrive yet to their country and it will take a long time to wait for the product to arrive.

Research

"Half-staff" or "Half-mast" flag is a symbol of respect, mourning or distress for a respectable person when they die.

I choose this topic and this is my mind map.

Piracy is happening under the radar.Musician, and people who work at film, software and game developer hate piracy. But hacker grow fast in the dark, people never know how they work to pirating every music, software, film and game.Malaysia government trying to stop piracy by block file sharing website. Most people keep talking about it.also when i go to restaurant i hear some people talk about this topic.so i take this topic.there are many people that didn't like the decision of block sharing file website.
This is a website that write about Malaysia Government Block File Sharing Website :
