Penang (Pulau Pinang) is an island off the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is also the name of the Malaysian state which is made up of Penang Island and the facing strip of territory on the mainland calledSeberang Perai (formerly Province Wellesley).

Penang's beaches are nice, though a little lackluster when compared to those in some other Malaysian states, but this is more than compensated for by the island's rich multicultural history which is full of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European influences. Penang is also well known for being the "food paradise" of Malaysia.

• Georgetown — the capital of Penang; a favorite spot for tourists as it has many attractive pre-Second World War houses and shophouses, as well as 19th century churches, temples, mosques, and colonial buildings. George Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site (it was inscribed as one of the Historic Cities of the Straits of Malacca together with the city of Melaka).
• Batu Ferringhi — on the north coast with white sandy beaches, luxurious hotels & restaurants, a favorite spot for both locals & tourists
• Bayan Lepas — Penang's main electronic manufacturing area and location of its international airport. Georgetown's satellite town.
• Balik Pulau — literally "Back of The Island" in Malay; a small town nestled among Malay villages, fruit orchards, and padi fields.
• Teluk Bahang — a quiet little fishing village at the northwestern tip of the island
• Tanjung Bungah — situated between Georgetown & Batu Feringhi, used to be a fishing village but now is a resort area with large hotels built along the beach. The world's largest Toy Museum is located in Tanjung Bungah next to Copthorne Orchid Hotel.

Mainland (Seberang Perai)

• Butterworth — mainland gateway to Penang, drectly across the Straits of Malacca from Georgetown
• Bukit Mertajam — capital of Seberang Perai Tengah district
• Bandar Perda — 20 minutes from Butterworth and 15 minutes from Penang Bridge
• Nibong Tebal — capital of Seberang Perai Selatan district
• Simpang Ampat — a small town famous for its nearby seafood at Bukit Tambun and Batu Kawan

Typography is art of type design with arranging, modifying typeface or font.Typefaces are a family of fonts, such as Helvetica Regular, Helvetica Italic, Helvetica Black, and Helvetica Bold.Fonts are one weight or style within that family, such as Helvetica Bold.Typography usually perform by typesetters, compositors, typographers, graphic designer, graffiti artists, art director, comic artists, and anyone else who arrange type for design or product.

In this assignment im using bauhaus typeface.This bauhaus typeface was designed by Edward Benguiat and Victor Caruso based on the prototype created by Herbert Bayer of the Dessau Bauhaus in 1925. The simple geometric forms and even strokes give the font a clean and distinctive look. ITC Bauhaus is available in five weights, light, medium, demi, bold and heavy.Bauhaus Heavy was originally intended to be a display-only design and was accompanied by Bauhaus Outline. With the advent of digital technology, the Outline version was dropped from the family, while the Bauhaus Heavy was made part of the now text/display offering.

My topic for assignment to is about fixed gear bike that become a new kind of sport.A fixed-gear bicycle (or fixed-wheel bicycle, sometimes known as a fixie) is a bicycle that has no freewheel, meaning it cannot coast, as the pedals are always in motion when the bicycle is moving.

The sprocket is screwed or bolted directly to a fixed rear hub. When the rear wheel turns, the pedals turn in the same direction. This allows a cyclist to stop without using a brake, by resisting the rotation of the cranks, and also to ride in reverse.

One of the main attractions of a fixed gear bicycle is low weight. Without the added parts required for a fully geared drivetrain, a fixed gear bicycle will weigh significantly less than its geared equivalent. Also, a fixed gear drivetrain is more mechanically efficient than any other bicycle drivetrain, with the most direct power transfer from rider to the wheels. Thus, a fixed gear will require less energy in any given gear to move than a geared bike in the same gear.

In slippery conditions some riders prefer to ride fixed because they believe the transmission provides increased feedback on back tire grip.

Descending any significant gradient is more difficult as the rider must spin the cranks at high speed (sometimes at 170 rpm or more), or use the brakes to slow down. Some consider that the enforced fast spin when descending increases suppleness or flexibility, which is said to improve pedalling performance on any type of bicycle.

Riding fixed is considered by some to encourage a more effective pedaling style, which is claimed translates into greater efficiency and power when used on a bicycle fitted with a freewheel.

When first riding a fixed gear, a cyclist used to a freewheel may try to freewheel, or coast, particularly when approaching corners or obstacles. Since coasting is not possible this can lead to a 'kick' to the trailing leg, and even to loss of control of the bicycle.

Riding at high speed around corners can be difficult for the novice rider, as the pedals can strike the road, resulting in possible loss of control.

A fixed gear bicycle has fewer moving parts than a multi-gear bicycle and requires less maintenance.

Artist Statement & Artwork Treatment

In this assignment i do my artwork in digital,this time i am using photoshop.most tool that i use in photoshop is type tool.i also use ellipse tool, pen tool and transform to arange some word and layer effect.i choose bauhaus because I think the typeface has a unique shape and the Bauhaus also can interact to people and also the shape showing an exciting emotion and kind of match with fixie bike. Bauhaus can give a something new in typography design. i choose orange and blue color to show calm and happy emotion. In photoshop i do a lot of work for this assignment,since i am not very good at photoshop its hard to do this assignment by figuring out what tool to use in photoshop. but finally i figure it out after try it all and asking some friends.
